I dedicate this poem to Russell Edwards, with the shawl owned by Catherine Eddowes, he managed to use it to identify Jack The Ripper.
To many he was legendary,
monster-like fascination,
mankind felt he was predatory,
created a hundred year old investigation.
First celebrity psycho,
others described and compared,
many will never overshadow,
worst crimes were conquered and inspired.
British ate up every tidbit,
even Peter Kurten mimicked,
butcheries he would commit,
in Whitechapel slum district.
A man so infamous,
one claimed to be him,
Thomas Neil Cream was villainous,
last words, “I am Jack The -” were awfully grim.
The legend was still alive,
even after Patricia Cornwell,
convicted a post-impressionist painter demoralize,
leaving the mystery to dwell.
People picture him when they hear, “serial killer,”
creating an ideal of profiling,
his name is Jack The Ripper,
notoriety still breathing.
He turned himself into a modern phenomenon,
self-proclaimed expert,
a monster craving acknowledgment,
who was eccentric tempered.
Stalking victims in the night,
for his sex-crazed frenzy,
mercifully swift with his knife,
physically stealthy.
Savagely violent sexual sadist,
most famous in the Victorian Era,
incisions that looked practiced,
possessing five women who wore more mascara.
Year was 1888,
between August through November,
each sufferer’s mutilations inflate,
studied the art of human dismember.
Began with a women named Mary Anne Nichols,
she was his first guinea pig,
compared to the others he took only a nibble,
slashed throat and abdominal solely picked.
September 8th was the last day for Ann Chapman,
took the next opportunity to try something new,
used her body as insightful surgical advancement,
carved stomach making intestines spew.
The next two were done together,
Elizabeth Stride was the quickest,
brutally mutilated however,
Catharine Eddowes was more of a biscuit.
Cutting off pieces of her face,
disemboweling her entire body,
enclosing a letter with her kidney without a trace,
fried the other for a meal impenetrably.
Ended with Mary Kelly,
flaunting mixed with sadistic fun,
combining them for the most deadly,
his finale has only begun.
Performing the art of serial murder,
inhumane in ferocity,
placed on a table for the observer,
in his own form of poetry.
Throat was cut with her forehead skinned,
thighs to her feet stripped of flesh,
parts of her frame trimmed,
a hand shoved into her stomach to only impress.
With technological advancements,
such notoriety finally has been revealed,
by finding the DNA of Catharine Eddowes’s female descendant,
the case has been sealed.
Aaron Kosminski is his name,
only just a hairdresser,
spawned incredible fame,
a performance for his pleasure.
Knowledgeable of his habits,
he dropped off the face of the earth,
he sent himself to a straightjacket,
left with a legacy as a sense of worth.
